I know what you’re thinking… What’s this? A blog?!? Are you sure you want to invest time in a project that only you and your close friends and family will read?
Yes. The answer is yes. I know I’m a little late to the blogging phenomenon, but sometimes its OK to be late. Don’t be late to things like birthday parties and the movies (you might miss critical info), but it’s alright to be late to blog creation. I’ve got the advantage of hindsight and know all about what makes an exciting, engaging, informative and interesting blog. I also know that there’s a good chance I don’t have the skills to deliver a creative, exciting and engaging blog but I’m giving it a red hot go regardless.
Also, there are a lot of amazing blogs publishing amazing content so there’s still hope for me yet.
I’m currently in my fourth and final year of a double degree in Education and Arts (history & criminology major) and I’m hoping to keep studying, eventually getting my PhD in Education! I’m very passionate about social justice, accessible education and Indigenous perspectives in the classroom and curriculum and hope to one day have a voice in challenging the status quo and making a positive change to Australia’s education system.
If you’ve read this far, thanks! I’m glad you’ve stuck around because here’s the part where I tell you all the COOL stuff…
What am I going to write about?
As a student studying arts/education (history & criminology major), there’s a lot I’d like to write about. I’d like to write about history, criminology and education in a way that is easy for readers to digest, and share my experiences as a student in Australia in 2018 (and beyond).
I have opinions.
They’re not always right, but no one’s opinions are always right, right? I try and make sure that even though my opinions will be out and about, that I’m never ignorant or offensive, and I cite the right people when necessary.
Why write a blog?
I love to write, share perspectives, engage in debate, and challenge myself. I’ve been throwing around the idea of creating a blog for quite a while now, and I’m sure it’s going to become my new favourite way to procrastinate, but being able to write about topics that I believe are missing from the mainstream media, or topics that are just really cool is going to be great fun.
I’m very excited about launching this project and welcome any feedback/advice/suggestions about anything to do with what I’m working on.
